I tend to work in series and I usually have a couple different series going simultaneously. I go back and forth from flowers to figures.
In the flower series I have started with a simple drawing from my sketch book of various flowers with different personal meanings they were either given and reflect love and friendship or they are wild representing strength and growth. Then I create relief prints and suites and finally oil paintings which reflect a very graphic type quality.
Another is gestural figure painting; in these works I use line in a playful way to convey movement and weight in the figures. The lines dance through the paintings as some of the images appear to be doing the same on the canvas.
My process begins with drawing from live models. The gestural images are drawn and redrawn several times, moving farther and farther from the original figure. Then the images are transferred again to the canvas.
